Multicultural Canada Day by The New Canadians Centre

Multicultural Canada Day 2014

Multicultural Canada Day

At Del Crary Park join in Peterborough’s Multicultural Canada Day Festival! Last year around 11,000 people enjoyed sharing the foods, crafts and performances brought to Peterborough by newcomers from around the world – and 100 amazing New Canadians Centre volunteers made it all happen! As well as being a great community event, the Multicultural Canada Day Festival is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the NCC and supports our many programs.

Food and craft vendors, sports demonstrations (11am – 1pm), stage performances (1-3pm) and activities for the family – everyone welcome!

Would you like to be involved this year on Tuesday July 1st?

Craft Vendor (deadline for registration: 5:00pm on June 20, 2014)

If you can help for any part of the day contact, Liana Honsinger at liana@nccpeterborough.ca and she will be delighted to hear from you!  By the way, family and friends are welcome to volunteer too.

Paddling Camps!

Canadian Canoe

The Canadian Canoe Museum is thrilled to be heading into its seventh season of offering paddling camps. Local canoe-focused day camps and an overnight tripping camp for kids in the Peterborough area. These popular camp programs are designed and taught by experienced outdoor educators. Instructors understand how (and why!) to teach kids how to explore and love their natural world. All from the stern seat!

Highly-trained instructors work closely with campers. Through skill-developing games and on-water practice, campers master skills and safety requirements. Campers work towards a badge/level from ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association) at the end of the week. But of course, it’s not all work! There’s time for swimming, soapstone carving (or other artisanal projects), exploration, traditional fire-starting and more!
